Ground Robot with an Arm to Perform Simple Grasp-and-Place Tasks
Robots equipped with robotic arms can potentially automate delivery tasks, assist the elderly and disabled, organize items and build simple structures. The main purpose of this research is to develop a ground-based robotic vehicle that will be capable of moving around a room to locations where grasp-and-place tasks are required. Image processing, motion and path planning algorithms are programmed in the robot’s computer to detect objects, pick them up with the arm and find the optimal path to move them to the desired location. Future research can focus on detecting specific objects and delivering them to different locations.
