Developing an Automatic Potable Water Chlorinator in Response to Varying Water Conditions

Chlorination is the most common approach to disinfecting water, however in underserved communities lacking appropriate training and technology, it is often difficult to maintain the optimal concentration of chlorine. To increase the accuracy of chlorine dosing, an automated chlorine dispensing system is being developed using a programmable ball valve. The system is able to use readings from a chlorine sensor and release the optimal amount of chlorine to disinfect water. This will allow for consistent and sufficient levels of chlorine in the water, ensuring the health and safety of the community.
