An Analysis of Callisto Insertion Methods for a Spacecraft Utilizing a Space Elevator Trajectory

Investigating possible solutions to high entry velocities associated with the usage of a space elevator launch system for a mission to the Jovian moon of Callisto is crucial to feasibility. Employing high-velocity methods, such as a space elevator launch, greatly reduce the travel times and allow for the increased possibility of human colonization. However, the cost of the increased speeds must be accounted for at the destination when the velocity must be slow enough to be captured by the moon. This project will employ a method of aerobraking with the Jovian atmosphere to determine the improvements to delta-v costs.
