Simple, Lumped Parameter Model to Simulate Blood Flow Through Bifurcations in the Human Cardiovascular System

The objective of the proposed research is to study blood flow through bifurcations in the human cardiovascular system using computational fluid dynamics. A simple, lumped parameter model will be used to simulate this flow. The 0D, lumped parameter model will then be coupled to a 3D model using incoming and outgoing flow rates as boundary conditions for the system. Collecting data of these models will hopefully be useful in the diagnoses and treatment of diseases that may affect the cardiovascular system.
