The objective of this project is to develop a device that assists gait. Assistive devices for a treadmill can help in gait rehabilitation for stroke survivors. This rehabilitation set up was designed to be accessible and affordable. Future work consists of further motion capture testing to ensure that design assists walking movement and potential redesign of key components.
The issue plaguing the medical field is that there are no means of affordable rehabilitation services for stroke patients. The researcher’s mentor suggested a treadmill-based exosuit that will provide proper rehabilitation treatment to restore a normal gait cycle. Currently, the researcher and his mentor have most of the design figured out. This exosuit will be more affordable compared to current rehabilitation exosuits, allowing wider access in hospitals to provide effective treatment for stroke patients.
