NASA Space Grant Robotics is in the process of creating underwater robots that can be used for deep sea diving. This would replace divers, as well as reduce the risk to their lives. With underwater robotics you can go deeper than any diver, being able to explore the vastly unknown ocean floor.NASA Space Grant Robotics is competing in the MATE ROV competition, which focuses on remote maintenance of parts in land and at sea.

NASA Space Grant Robotics is an underwater robotics Fulton Student Organization that is competing in two different underwater robotics competitions, MATE and Robosub (AUVSI). For the MATE competition, a remotely operated vehicle is created. In the Robosub (AUVSI) competition the underwater robot is completely autonomous. This will be NASA Space Grant Robotics first year competing in Robosub (AUVSI).
