Replication of a Two-Axis Robotic Platform for Improved Ankle Characterization and Postural Stability Studies

Understanding the human ankle and neuromuscular disorders like multiple sclerosis and stroke are very important in field of rehabilitation and lower-limb prostheses. This research tracks the replication of a two-axis robotic platform in order to provide future research ventures such as, holistic characterization of simultaneous ankle impedance and simulating mechanical environments for postural stability. The new system will be tested against the right ankle system for similarity. The two platforms will then be used in human studies of the ankle in various forms of standing and walking for different studies.
