Investigation of Mechanical Strength of Alkali-Activated Mine Tailing
Mining activities are inevitable for industrialization, but mine tailing disposal creates a severe environmental impact. Identifying the applications of mine tailings as potential secondary raw materials would help develop better waste-management techniques. This project focuses on the development of alkali-activated mine tailing binders. In order to attain binders with acceptable compressive strength ranges, different ratios of cement and slag (10, 20, and 30 percent by mass of total mixtures) were used as supplementary binders in the mix. In addition, the effect of different curing techniques on strength is also studied.
