Exploring the Connection Between Particulate Composition and Mean Granule Size
Pharmaceuticals are an integral part of many peoples’ lives and while billions of dollars are poured into research and development little is known about the effect of process variables on the resulting particle size distribution. This project is aimed at discovering the link between different batch compositions of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and acetaminophen (APAP) and the resulting particle size distribution, circularity and solidarity. The experiment will be performed by granulating different mixtures of MCC and APAP and analyzing the distribution by a sieve analysis. The results from this project can be scaled to make the drug-making process more efficient.
