NASA Space Grant Robotics is in the process of creating underwater robots that can be used for deep sea diving. This would replace divers, as well as reduce the risk to their lives. Underwater robotics can go deeper than any diver, being able to explore the vast unknown ocean floor.
NASA Space Grant Robotics is an underwater robotics Fulton Student Organization that is competing in two different underwater robotics competitions, MATE and Robosub (AUVSI). For the MATE competition, a remotely operated vehicle is created. In the Robosub (AUVSI) competition the underwater robot is completely autonomous. This project aims toward creating a more sustainable and efficient recycling process mainly for cities. It includes motors, sensors, an interactive interface, and magnetic coils all aimed towards sorting and making sure recyclable material is put into place properly. Further projections will include a larger scale facility and potential work with the city of Phoenix
